For All Have Sinned

Reflection 26 from Matters of the Heart

Verse: “…being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” – Romans 3:24

Romans 3:23

Mankind is the glory of God’s creation, fashioned with love, to dwell alongside the Lord in unity and harmony within the Garden of Eden. But by the deceit of the serpent, mankind fell into temptation, and by an act of disobedience humanity became enslaved to sin. Through our iniquity we fell out of glory and were destined for destruction.

But the Lord had compassion on his creation, putting into motion His perfect plan of salvation. He took our flesh and lived amongst us, showing us what righteousness is. For none are able to redeem us but the blameless Lord Himself. And none could overcome the snares of death but the source of life Himself. Even though we continue in sin, and even though we often stray, the Lord offers His unending mercy and gives us freely of His saving grace.

Prayer

My Lord and Saviour, do not separate me from Your redeeming grace for I am desolate apart from You.
