John 1:43-51

“Follow me”, the Lord motioned each of the disciples. He does not compel any of His followers to forsake their former ways and adopt a new life as labourers for the Kingdom. Rather, the Lord sought them out, touched their lives, and then called them. And their response, as the gospels narrate to us, is to forsake all and follow Him. For such is the natural reaction of man to the call of the Son of God.

Likewise, the Lord calls each of us daily, and in all His glory seeks our hearts. He transforms us through His Holy Word and unites with us through His Mysteries and His Church. He calls us to forsake the ordinary and the perishable in pursuit of the everlasting and the Heavenly. But He does so with a gentle heart, granting us the freedom to respond as we wish. How will you respond to His invitation?

Prayer

Lord, help me to hear Your call, and to respond to Your invitation in order that I may be discipled by You.
