Fear Not for I Am With You

Reflection 25 from Matters of the Heart

Hebrews 11:6

Each day brings forth its own set of affairs, troubles, tribulations and distractions. These trials are inevitable, but it is how we respond to these circumstances that demonstrate just how much faith we place in our Lord. An anxious reaction reveals a sense of reliance on our own means, rather than the absolute trust in our mighty God. But he who places his life in the hands of our capable Saviour shall find refuge in Him who directs, protects and strengthens His flock.

In every moment of every day we must keep ourselves united to the Lord, placing our cares and troubles into his hands and receiving from Him the grace and strength to deal with all of our worldly calamities. Accepting His Providence and surrendering to His will in all circumstances is but life’s greatest challenge, and the ultimate act of faith. But with it comes a true and limitless union with God in which there is no greater reward.

Prayer

Lord I trust in You, shelter me beneath Your wings and carry me through all of life’s storms.
