The Power of Prayer
Reflection 20 from Matters of the Heart

It is a beautiful gift of the Lord to be able to commune with Him as readily and with as minimal effort as is available to us through prayer. For with mere words we are granted access to the heart of our Almighty God. With a simple thought directed to the Lord we are endowed with the power to open the heavens and see our Creator. And with an inclination to the divine we have access to God’s unending grace, His abundant blessings and His healing presence.
Such is the power of prayer. This is why we must endeavour to lift up our hands and engross ourselves as best we can in the dialogue with God. For the more you draw on this treasure, the more wealth there is to be found, for truly it is an inexhaustible gift.
Prayer
My Lord, show me the power of prayer in order that I may draw strength from it.

Thank you so much for all the time and effort you put into this devotional! The weekly format is just right for me. I use a few days to take notes on your thoughts, read the scripture passages you suggest, and just absorb your words. Sometimes I look up other translations of the scripture, just to clarify the meaning. The I use a journaling bible to illustrate the scripture readings you suggest. This study plan works so well for me, and I carry the words I’ve studied with me all week. This has been such a blessing to me.
