Prepare a Place for Me

Reflection 24 from Matters of the Heart

Verse: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock…” Revelation 3:20

Exodus 30

‘You shall make an altar’ requests the Lord. A place within your heart dedicated to the Lord your God and Saviour. A place overlaid with gold and adorned with fine linen suited for the dwelling of your royal King. A Holy place free from the stench of death and all that resembles decay. For that is where the Lord wishes to dwell and that is where the Messiah wishes to meet with you. And upon this altar is where you will offer sweet incense to the Lord, a perpetual offering before your God. An offering of prayer and an unending commune with the Creator. This is the abode in which the Lord delights and a fitting place for His Holy Spirit to dwell.

Prepare that dwelling place by cleansing it of all that the Lord abhors. Adorn it with love and a commitment to the Lord. And fill it with holy and righteous matters. For this is well pleasing to God.

Prayer

Lord, may You come in to my heart to sanctify it and purify it, to nourish it and to render it victorious over all its enemies.
