Are you Destined for Heaven?

You and I, dear reader, journey through this strange and tiresome world as mere pilgrims, knowing that a time will come when we must depart from here. [1] Sadly, we often forget this simple truth and neglect to consider our ways. We fail to examine where our journey will lead us and give little or no thought about our final destination.

Prayer-My place in Heaven

Are you destined for the heavenly abode? Or is your journey leading you away from this place of pure bliss? (Tweet this)

Some sojourners may have never heard of this place called heaven, they don’t know the significance of such a place and are quick to dismiss the idea of its very existence. These people choose to believe only in what is tangible. They concern themselves with the physical realm in which they dwell and suppress the yearning within their soul to find their way back to their heavenly abode. Sadly, these people do not understand their worth in the eyes of their God and reject His loving invitation.

Other sojourners may have a vague idea about heaven, but their ideas are shaped by the worldly portrayal of such a place. These people often avoid thinking about their eternal destination because it will place a heavy burden on their worldly ways. They put off thinking about their eternity but for a moment in time spent in worldly pleasures. These people, like those mentioned earlier, choose to focus their energy on dealing with the affairs and cares of the world.

Few sojourners however occupy themselves completely with the affairs of the spiritual realm. Such people are acutely aware of the promises concerning heaven as found in Holy Scripture. They understand that the Lord is preparing for His faithful a place of indescribable splendor.[2] A place adorned with the very beauty of God Himself. Such a place so pure and majestic remains a mystery to man since no language in this world can portray such beauty.[3]

As with any journey on which we embark, we ought to follow the necessary path of salvation in order to reach our heavenly destination. We must be watchful and diligent not to sway to the left or to the right, lest we get lost and end up elsewhere.

Search carefully in the directory of life, which is non-other than the Holy Scriptures, in order to find the way back home to your Father’s Kingdom. (Tweet this)

[1] ‘Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul’-(1 Peter 2:11)

[2] ‘In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also.’-(John 14:2-3)

[3] ‘But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, Nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.”’-(1 Cor 2:9)
